Ercol Furniture Restoration & Repair Services
I have undertaken numerous repairs and restoration to various Ercol pieces of furniture over the years.
Re-lacquering: I use the very latest heat and water resistant acrylic lacquer, which has a durable and natural looking finish. I usually use a matt or satin finish – depending on the preference of the customer or what finish the piece had originally. The old surface is always stripped off by hand using wire wool and a scraper, then the wood is lightly sanded with 240 grit paper before the lacquer is applied with a spray gun for a smooth finish.
Loose Chair Joints: All loose chair joints are firstly knocked apart with a rubber mallet; then the old glue is scraped off with a chisel and the wood is then cleaned with sandpaper. Finally all joints are re-glued with PVA glue and, where applicable, all wooden joint wedges are replaced and new ones knocked in to tighten the joint up.
