Structurally this grandfather clock was sound, it just needed a clean. It also had broken glass and mouldings and was missing its feet.
As you can see, the glass was broken and there were two missing brass plates that adorned the top of the hood.
The base had no feet and various bits of loose and missing veneer.
This piece of wood on the right is about to be converted in to grandfather clock feet!
This is a new base moulding made to match the opposing one.
The feet are now cut to shape
The hood with new glass and brass plates – note I always use hand poured glass, which is uneven in texture and has imperfections.
The finished casing.
